Travel Insurance

Travel insurance protects domestic and international travelers against financial loss due to adverse events beyond their control. Losses can include, but are not limited to, cancellation, interruption or delays in their travels, loss or damage to personal property, emergency medical bills and/or medical evacuations.

The main categories of travel insurance are:

Delay: will reimburse travelers for hotel, food or clothing expenses in the event of a flight delay.

Cancellation: a traveler will be reimbursed if they have booked and paid for travel, but is unable to embark because of personal illness or injury, death (of the individual or of a family member), adverse weather conditions, airline strikes, terrorism, bankruptcy, sudden unemployment, jury duty or by sustaining serious damage to their home causing it to be uninhabitable.

Interruption: will pay money to a traveler abroad if they have to cut short their trip due to illness, death (of the traveler or a family member), weather, airline strikes, terrorism, bankruptcy, becoming unemployed, and other adverse conditions which mean that, due to events outside the control of the traveler, a trip has to be curtailed.

Medical and Health Reasons: reimburses a traveler for medical and emergency dental expenses.

Medical Evacuation: provides emergency transportation to either a local hospital or back to a hospital near the traveler's place of residence. If family members are covered on the same policy they can also return home.

Air Flight Accident: traveler is only covered in the event of death or dismemberment during an air flight.

Common Carrier: covers a traveler for death or dismemberment while traveling on public transportation. Public transportation includes traveling on a plane, ferry, train, bus or taxi.
